Where can I see my WIC food benefits?

To see your WIC food benefits, you can:

  • Use the “My Benefits” option in the WICShopper mobile app.
  • Visit www.ebtEDGE.com or call the toll-free number on the back of your eWIC card: 1-844-234-4950.
  • Review your Family Food Benefits List from your WIC clinic.
  • Check your last grocery store receipt.
+

When do my WIC food benefits expire?

WIC issues monthly food benefits. Benefits are only valid for the month they are issued. Unused benefits expire at midnight on the last day of each month. Once benefits expire, they cannot be used or replaced.

Monthly food benefits are usually issued for three months at a time. This means you may see up to three months of benefits in the WICShopper app or on your Family Food Benefits List, but you can only use one month's benefit each month. Your WIC office will tell you how to get more benefits when needed.

What should I know before I shop?

Here are some helpful tips before you go shopping:

  • Register your eWIC card with the WICShopper mobile app.
  • Know what food benefits you have available before you shop. Pay close attention to brands, sizes and fat-content of milk and yogurt included in your WIC food benefits.
  • Make a shopping list of WIC-approved foods. You can find WIC-approved foods in the WICShopper app or the Colorado Food List & Shopping Guide.
+

Do I need a PIN to use my eWIC card?

Yes. You need to set-up a four-digit personal identification number (PIN) to use your eWIC card. Here is what you should know:

  • Set a PIN that you can remember.
  • Keep your PIN private.
  • If you enter your PIN wrong four times, your card will lock. To unlock it:
    1. Call the toll-free number on the back of your eWIC card (1-844-234-4950) or visit www.ebtEDGE.com. You can create a new PIN and shop after your PIN unlocks at midnight.
    2. Or call your WIC clinic to unlock your PIN. You can shop right after your PIN is unlocked. You can use your current PIN or create a new one with your WIC clinic.

Note: You can change your PIN at any time by calling the toll-free number (1-844-234-4950) or visiting www.ebtEDGE.com, as listed on the back of your eWIC card.

How do I know which foods I can buy with my eWIC card?

You can find WIC-approved foods in the Colorado Food List & Shopping Guide, the WICShopper app, or by using the app’s scanning feature.

Remember, you can only buy WIC-approved food brands and types with your eWIC card, and the foods must be listed in your WIC food benefits.

What should I do at checkout?

At checkout:

  • Tell the cashier you are using your eWIC card. Ask if you need to separate WIC items from non-WIC items.
  • Apply any coupons to WIC foods.
  • Use your eWIC card first, then use other payments as needed (such as SNAP).
  • Keep your receipt or look at your purchase history on the WICShopper App to review the WIC food benefits you have left.
+

What should I do if an item does not ring up as a WIC item at checkout?

If you try to buy a WIC-approved item and it is not accepted, follow these steps:

  1. You have a few options:
    • Do not buy the item.
    • Pick a different brand or type of food that is WIC-approved.
    • Use SNAP benefits, cash, or another payment for the item. WIC cannot pay you back for food you buy with another type of payment.
  2. Keep your receipt.
  3. Take a picture of the front and back of the food package, write down/ take a picture of the barcode/UPC on the package (not the shelf-tag). You can submit this using the “I Couldn’t Buy This” feature on the WICShopper App, or contact your WIC clinic.

Note: Some cash registers print a receipt during your purchase listing the WIC foods and your WIC balance. Review the receipt closely. If you make food changes to your purchase, you may have to swipe your eWIC card more than once.

What should I do with the food or formula I do not use?
